Holidaying closer to home
I’m an expat living in Germany, and I have found planning stress-free weekends to off-the-radar hideouts even harder than I would back home: I didn’t know which areas offered what, or how to get to them. I just knew I wanted a trip with friends or a romantic getaway, and booking sites were useless at helping me. So often, I gave up and just jumped on a plane to somewhere south.
But I want to explore the country I live in, and I want to do it in style. So I created The Staycation Collection. An inspiration club to make it easier for you to have memorable weekends away.

I’m a travel writer by trade, and I’ve spent 7+ years working in the boutique hotel sector. So I put my hard-earned skills to work and spent a long, long time scouring Germany looking for exceptional getaways: hotels, B&Bs, apartments and cabins that are both stylish and affordable, plus are surrounded by extraordinary things to do. I sought out property owners who love their local area and asked them for their insider tips.
The result? Over 100 unique hideouts that I cannot wait to share with you. Think Icelandic-inspired treehouses overlooking a river, an industrial-chic former wool mill in a buzzy city, and artist-created, zero-waste suites.
