Your top 10 favourite places to stay in 2020

The hotlist is here: these were the most popular places to stay in 2020

We ran the data, and these were the most sought-after holiday cabins, houses, B&Bs and apartments on The Staycation Collection in the last 12 months.

Given how popular they were last year, we'd suggest you book them asap, as beds in these beautiful places won't be free for long...

#1: The Old Vicarage, Brandenburg
Just over an hour from Berlin, easy to get to by train, surrounded by forests and lakes, plus a selection of cosy cabins: it's pretty easy to see why The Old Vicarage is so popular.

#2: Siegfried Cabin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
This seaside cabin is straight from a picture book. Big garden, modern interiors and a short walk to the white-sand beaches of the Darß peninsula.

#3: Forester's Lodge, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
You know the food is good when they have to build a B&B for full-up guests! The rustic hideout serves locally-grown produce in an intimate setting.

From cabins to water towers

#4: The Waterman's Cabin, Schleswig-Holstein
Active holiday types: this cabin, close to Sankt Peter-Ording's 12km beach, is the perfect base to spend your days windsurfing, cycling and swimming.

#5: Müritz Water Tower, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
We love the effortless blend of modern design with old industrial features, plus the surrounds are stunning: you’re in a forest overlooking two lakes.

#6: The Lake Houses, Saxony

If we ask you to picture your dream cabin, the chances are you'd picture something similar to The Lake Houses; with wood-burning fires and a private beach, what more could you ask for?

To chalets and castles

#7: The Waterworks, Brandenburg

These modern-but-cosy apartments are the dictionary definition of romantic - it's not hard to see why so many of you loved staying here! We love the huge fireplaces and unique design.

#8: Mosel Chalets, Rhineland-Palatinate

Floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views over the rolling hills covered in vineyards means that waking up here is an absolute treat! Spend your days cycling between wine producers before curling up on your terrace to watch the stars.

#9: Baltic Coast Cabin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

This is the perfect place to unwind with friends and family: huge cabins just a stone's throw from kilometres of white sand beach, surrounded by pine trees.

#10: The Lake Estate, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

We love this renovated castle surrounded by Mecklenburg's striking lake district (and with its own private lake!). The cosy rooms, on-site restaurant and wellness centre make it very hard to leave!
