WHAT?
Many of us city-dwelling folk often dream of finding an escape in the countryside, somewhere we can create a vegetable garden, where we can expose wooden beams but add modern decor, and where we can drink our morning coffee with views of the fields. While many of us dream of this, Andreas and Gary - former Berlin residents - have actually made this a reality. And luckily for us, they have renovated a number of the former farm buildings and turned them into holiday apartments so that us dreamers can enjoy a snippet of this life.
You’ll find this escape nestled in an idyllic village in northern Brandenburg, complete with an organic farm shop and cafe and plenty of glacial lakes a short bike ride away.
Andreas and Gary have truly created a home from home, and ensured the spaces are kitted out with everything you might need - including high-speed internet, should you opt to work from here for a while. The house, which sleeps up to 6, has a gorgeous open-plan kitchen and living area, while the apartment for 2 is cosy and painted with rustic colours. The garden, with its herb bed, is beautiful, and summer nights should be spent on the terrace looking out for stars and listening for owls.

WHY?
I fell in love because...
- The red-brick buildings, dating from the 1880s, are beautiful, and the interiors stylishly blend modern decor with traditional touches
- The farmhouse lies at the edge of a quaint village, where there’s a cute cafe serving regional produce (plus there are donkeys!)
You must...
- Take a long walk through the beautiful rolling hills of the Uckermark, Andreas and Gary have created a guide with their favourites
- If you’re here in summer, bring your swimwear and a picnic basket, and spend the day at one of the region’s gorgeous lakes (and borrow one of the SUPs)
You might dislike...
- The closest lake is a 30-minute walk or a short car ride away
- The apartment overlooks a street into the village, rather than across the Uckermark landscape

WHO?
Introducing Andreas and Gary!
“When we found our house we knew immediately that it could be a very special place that we would like to share with other people. Little by little we expanded the house and the holiday accommodation and created the Mediterranean garden.”
They love…
“Our guests love the peace and vastness of the Uckermark. Here you can go on particularly beautiful and deserted hikes, go on bike rides along the crystal-clear lakes and jump into the cool water again and again.”
Andreas and Gary’s insider tips
- Get outside! There are endless crystal-clear lakes, bumpy dirt roads, quiet forests, villages made of brick and fieldstone, as well as the hilly landscape of the Ice Age and a particularly large variety of species: all this makes the Uckermark so special - we can recommend hikes, bike rides and lakes!
- The whole Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve is full of deer, cranes, eagles, foxes and rabbits - keep your eyes open
- Spend time unwinding in our Mediterranean garden, designed by Rainer Elstermann, our landscape and garden architect - it’s beautiful regardless of the time of year!
- Go and eat! There are lots of places serving up regional cuisine, but our favourite is Grosser Garten (check their website for opening times)!
Hof Flieth
“Hof Flieth, a tranquil retreat near Berlin, exceeded all our expectations. The hosts are incredibly welcoming, charming, and hospitable. Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, we enjoyed hours of hiking in the serene countryside. Hof Flieth is a true gem, and we can't wait to go back and stay longer next time.”
